Complete admin tasks associated within sales and service departments , such as creating purchase orders and invoices for various products that Cummins sells. I also help with customers queries and colleagues queries on systems and processes. I frequently arrange and organize various meetings and events within the company such as customer meetings .
Yes, previous to my apprenticeship of level 3 through to 6, i had little to no admin skills . I would now consider myself skilled within this area. I also had little work experience and confidence in an office environment, simple tasks such as presentations and meeting now no longer phase me as they would have before.
I don't enjoy the degree apprenticeship, due to the provider and the extensive needs of the course. I don't feel i fully understood the course before singing up , due to many things being in the beginning stage. So i have come across various issues and challenges, which have been a disadvantage of the program.
From the perspective of my company it's fairly straight forward and flexible, i have been allowed to manage this in a way that suits my self . However the training provider is not very well organized, the structure has changed several times throughout my time on the course and they have asked students for little input in these decisions.
I receive the support i need to complete, such are the time to work through the course work and assignments. I also have the chance to asks several colleagues for help and support on the different modules. However, i feel these courses are fairly complex to an outsider , so to receive help you have to ask for it. It's not clear on the outside how to support a learner.
My support from the training provider has been infrequent, due to a change in module lead repeatedly - the support varies depending on the tutor. There is a generic support team set up for any educational skills such as referencing, however this team are not only working with our provider. So the information and advice they give on assignments is sometimes wrong .
I don't feel the full qualification has been of use to my role or future roles. Some of the modules seem repetitive and others have not been relevant to my work , or future work interests. I don't feel i have took much of the learning away from this qualification.
There are little events ran socially through Cummins, particularly after covid most evens that did happen previously have now stopped. There is nothing organized through Cummins, only the people who work there. Again, this varies by location , department and interests. The professional networking events however are run via Cummins and are becoming more frequent post covid.
Yes
I would recommend Cummins to a friend who believes they are interested in working for a broad organization or global company, but would need to have a interest in an office environment. Or a friend who had a interest in engineering, as the possibilities within this sphere are wide at Cummins.
Be open and honest about your expectations of the company and job role, to ensure you are applying for a role that will suit your needs - before you start and realize that it does not meet your criteria. Also, there is a lot of information online to review about Cummins before making a decision.
