On a day to day basis I tend to do a variety of many different actives. I arrive on site at roughly around 8:30 and usually take my lunch break around 12. The activities I do tend to consist of reviewing quotations and dealing with contractors. I usually finish my day any time past 5.
I have acquired and developed many different skills during my time working at Mace by asking my fellow colleges and people who have done this job. Some of these qualities include things like communication skills I feel that this has been something I have really come around to and has helped me a lot through out my time working here.
In terms of my work environment I believe that Mace is one of the best companies that there are in the UK, the team around me are all amazing and so willing to help at any time even when busy which has greatly made my time here more enjoyable and informative.
Again on the Mace side the programme is very smooth with everything being planned out very well and meeting are all well structured. However, on the studying side I would have to say that London Southbank University is not the best when it comes to being organised and also being structured.
I have received a lot of assistance and help from my employer. Ways in which I have been shown this is by things like being provided with people like my Mace Buddy and my Line manager who I can go and talk to at any time if i ever have an issue.
Although there isn't the best organisation and structure I have to say the support offered by London Southbank University is of high quality the reason that I believe this is I have received consistent support from all the tutors and even the leader of the course [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] who always seems to be available and ready to give her assistance.
Only some aspects of my qualification are applicable for the workplace and help me perform better within my role. I would state that I learn more on the job and improve significantly through being on site rather than in the lecture halls. Also learning from other people in the same job as me is very beneficial.
At Mace we do many extra curricular activities for example going to thing like panel events and doing one volunteer day a year. I would like to do more events like this for example I am thinking of hosting a 5 a side tournament with some of the subcontractors on our job.
Yes
I recommend Mace Group due to the great team we have around us and support we are given every day. I have learned a lot in the last 2 years which has matured me and greatly increased my knowledge. Furthermore I believe that the sites that Mace work on are amazing and after finishing my apprenticeship I would like to work abroad which Mace has many opportunities in.
I would advise being ready to be part of a great company that will treat fairly and with respect the whole duration you are with them. I firmly believe that Mace Group is one of if not the best construction company in the UK. I am really enjoying my time and know anyone that joins will too.
