  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently based in the digital team. I service customers using our live chat system or through social media. I am part of the pre travel team so I assist all customers who are due to travel but have not yet departed this includes amendments, cancellations, payments and can even booked holiday for them if they need me to.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Whilst working for TUI I have learnt lots of new things. I first started on the phones learning all the systems and how best to help out customers. I then moved on to be trained in our welfare department which I really enjoyed as I supported more people. I then got trained in digital which taught me how to move my previous skills from the phones onto digital and still deliver great service to our customers.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying my programme as I am learning new things and TUI as a business that I wouldn't have looked into without the programme. I enjoy the structure given to complete my work and feel the lay out of everything is very organised and well thought out.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The induction was very informative and gave me all the information I needed for my work. Training was well executed and left room for plenty of questions. The support from my manager and colleagues was amazing and made me feel as though I wasn't alone and if I needed any help I could always go to them my mentor also helps and we have meeting which clearly states what I need to complete and when by.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager is always supporting me whether it is with the work itself or if I need more time to complete my work she will organise time for me during working hours to catch up if I am falling behind. She always has the time to help me and never makes me feel bad for asking questions or falling behind. My mentor also adapts to how I learn better such as sending me lists via email of everything I need to do before our next meeting and always emphasizes I can reach out at any time for help.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My advisor offers me as much supports as I need such as sending me lists via email of everything I need to complete before our next meeting and going over everything with me during our meetings and sends me examples of what I need to do which helps me complete the work correctly instead of being stuck on what I need to write. I really enjoy completing the work and look forward to meetings to see how I have done and get my next assignment.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Currently my qualification doesn't help me in my day to day role as I am still in the early days of work so doing a lot of what I already know which is great as sometimes you forget what you know and is always good to have a refresher. I haven't yet completed my qualification but I am already learning more about the industry.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • It is difficult to have activities as we all all remote workers but the company does there best by hosting digital events or just little things like quizzes and we have days where we can dress up for work for our digital meetings such as Saint David's day and currently the Queen's Jubilee we are doing a week of activities digitally to celebrate.

  • 9a. Would you recommend TUI UK & Ireland to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great company to work for and you always feel appreciated whereas in other jobs you can feel very used and like a robot almost but with TUI you really feel as though you are part of a family everyone is so nice and managers always have time for you even if you are just having an off day they will make sure you are okay and make time to talk to you about it.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to TUI UK & Ireland?
  • Personally I struggled at first with the job as it is a lot to learn but my advice would be to stick with it there is plenty of support you are never alone in anything and don't be afraid to ask for help even if you have just started or are a year into it you are constantly learning with this job you cannot be perfect all the time and TUI understand that and help in any way they can.
