Assisting the team with legal matters, including attending meetings, drafting documents, communicating with clients and experts in person, over the phone and by emails. Attending court trials.
Office skills such as communication, presentation, and self management of work. I've developed my technical abilities to draft court documents, letters and emails. I've developed my negotiating skills. I've developed professional networking skills.
I have enjoyed learning about the legal work different teams undertake, attending client meetings and functions and experiencing trials in the Royal Courts of Justice.
The programme is structured well. I have one assigned study day each week to complete studying towards my degree/qualifying exams. I then have 4 days in the office working with my team and developing my office skills.
I have been assigned a supervisor within my team who I have regular catch ups with to discuss my work and development. I also have an apprentice manager who I can go to with any questions regarding the structure of the programme or other HR queries.
I have weekly lectures for the modules I am studying. I also have a coach who organises calls each term to check on my wellbeing and development. I was also assigned a coach when competing my portfolio to give me support and advice regarding the work I should include.
The qualification provides me with a legal knowledge background needed to undertake tasks in my role.
