  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • At Visa, the apprenticeship program consists of 6 month rotations. The rotations allow us to gain a broad, well-rounded experience of working in different functional areas. I have carried out tasks such as managing a busy inbox, data entry, creating reports, creating training materials, attending client calls, etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The varied rotations have allowed me to develop and learn new skills. Visa have an internal training platform, in which they host different events throughout the year, these are really great to learn, develop and network.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think the 6 month rotational element is a fantastic and unique element to the program. However, I think some rotations could benefit from adopting a better structure to ensure the 6 months in the rotation are fully utilised. We have 1 day off to study per week.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a lot of support from our managers, colleagues and QA (our training provider.) However, I feel that we could benefit from more regular check ins from HR so we feel fully supported by them.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Our training provider is QA. QA are great at delivering the content needed to complete assignments. They also offer ACE sessions which are 1-1 tutorials which are really good for getting started on an assignment. Sometimes it can be a struggle getting feedback on our assignments.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Our qualification is Chartered Management, so whilst it's not too relevant to our roles now, I feel that the content we are learning now will benefit us massively in the future. However, the general business content (Finance & Accounting, Project Management) can be applied to our roles now.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Visa have a Next Gen committee who are responsible for organising fun social and networking events. However, they could benefit from listening to ideas from apprentices and grads when organising events too. Visa also have Employee Resource Groups which host networking events. There are lots of volunteering opportunities too!

  • 9a. Would you recommend Visa to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Visa truly is a fantastic company to work for. As an apprentice you are treated with respect and your colleagues show an interest in your development and are willing to invest their time in you. I would recommend Visa to any apprentice, intern, or grad.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Visa?
  • Be yourself, don't try to be someone you think Visa wants you to be. Thoroughly research the company, make sure you familiarise yourself with the leadership principles and ask questions! Make sure you show a genuine interest in the company and the program.
