I am a Showrooms Manager. I manage a team who provides a personal design service for customers. I also support the team with off the shelf sales, customer service, .com orders and deal with any issues or complaints that can arise. I also support the daily running of the store.
I have learnt to manage a team effectively, allowing the team to grow and develop their own skills. I have learnt best practice and a greater understanding of the wider company. I have learnt about the business expectations and how to deliver this to the team and get the best from everyone.
I have really enjoyed the fact that the programme has been adjusted to suit my individual needs. As a parent carer time management is extremely important to myself and my family needs. The programme has the flexibility to support your individual learning at a pace that does not overwhelmin you.
The programmes structure I feel has been fantastic the different individual sections has been broken down into easy understable sections that also cross over at times giving you a fantastic learning journey to help support you within the role that you are currently doing in store. A real inspiration programme.
My employer has been simply amazing. The support has been endless. No question has been too much trouble. I have been given the time, training and opportunity that I have needed and also asked for. I am truly blessed to have such an amazing support network at work, across the store and within the B&Q community.
My training provider is exceptionally supportive. I am always given the time and appointments that work for my and my busy family life. My trainer is always available and makes regular contact in between visits My trainer has the patients of a Saint and always helps and supports myself to get through all of the modules.
My qualification has helped to support my promotion within store. I have been promoted twice since embarking on the apprenticeship programme. The programme has give me clear direction and understanding to help develop myself within my role and the wider company. I have taken on many different roles within the company and this is because of my own curiosity after working different modules across the programme.
I am the stores People Forum rep, Community Charity Champion, I help support store and regional outings. I am also very proud to be apart of the B&Q Foundation, I am a Trustee and sit on the board. B&Q fully encourage and support you to be apart of many different groups across the company.
Yes
I personally feel that B&Q is a fantastic place to work. The company help to support you to grow and develop within the company. The company feels like one giant family, everyone is extremely friendly, supportive and encouraging. I love being apart of the company. I sing the companies praises on a daily basis.
I would advise anyone applying to work at B&Q to be yourself, smile and be happy. Let them know if your looking to develop within the company. Don't be afraid to take a sml contract to get your foot in the door. I started on the checkouts on a 20 hour contract, 4 years later I am now a Showrooms Manager. Go for it :-)
