Leading the strategy development, implementation and tracking for a particular business division. This involves external market and competitor analysis, identifying and assessing alternative strategic responses and then working with the senior leadership team to shape, agree and define the strategy. After that my role involves working with others to communicate and measure strategy delivery
Completing my degree apprenticeship helped me to both learn new skills and develop existing skills. I had previous experience in marketing, strategy and finance which were covered on the apprenticeship and which helped me to cement my previous learnings, however the apprenticeship also covered new areas such as operations and learning and development as well as considerable time for personal and professional reflection
I really enjoyed my apprenticeship programme - it was challenging and required a significant personal commitment but I feel I have gained a great deal by developing skills I already had as well as adding new skills and areas of knowledge. I also enjoyed the opportunity to network with other apprentices
I believe the programme overall was well structured with a good balance between more academic modules and more practical subjects and did include multiple opportunities for self reflection and driving self development. Some modules were impacted by the covid pandemic and study days moved to virtual rather than in person days
My employer has been incredibly supportive of my apprenticeship journey - throughout I have had regular check ins with my manager to discuss progress and share ideas. I have also been supported by other apprentices and able to share our learnings and during my final project i conducted my research with multiple participants from my employer
I think the support has varied depending on the different modules of the apprenticeship - for some of the more structured modules the course leaders have been very helpful and hands on in providing support, whereas other modules have been more about self directed learning. My project supervisor was very helpful and made a real difference to my research project
I feel my MBA / degree apprenticeship qualification has provided me a more rounded understanding of different areas of business which has improved my general appreciation of how my business functions. I also feel that the focus on applying academic learning and deriving self development will be a significant benefit to me in future
Yes, my employer facilitates a number of communities bringing colleagues together to network and support each other across a range of topics- some more focused on professional development and others more focused on personal subjects and well being. These are supported by the company but there is also the ability for colleagues to create their own communities and networks
Yes
I have had a varied and wonderful career working for E.ON. I have een very fortunate to work in a wide range of different roles and have been supported to learn and develop. I have also worked with some wonderful supportive and committed colleagues who I have learnt a huge amount from
To reflect not just on the skills and experience you can bring to the role but also your personality and how you behave - skills can be learnt but your attributes and how they make you unique are a core part of you and what you will bring to the company
