Day to day my role varies significantly from creating/editing reports using programmes such as Power BI & excel to coding on SQL databases from the creation to the final outputs produced. Additionally working on database security, attending meetings and much more. As well as spending around 20% of my time on the degree aspect of the course.
Learnt many new skills since starting, from coding, Microsoft 365 skills and general IT skills. Additionally using and practising these skills regularly in my work. Also developing my soft skills e.g., communication, presentation and speaking. Additionally gaining a basic accounts qualification on top of these.
Overall I enjoy my programme, the people and company culture is amazing. The work is relevant to my qualification and you're treated no different being an apprentice!
Being a newly formed course, the organisation at times could be improved however when any issues do arise they can be quickly and efficient sorted. The structure of the course was unclear at the beginning however now is clear.
The support is amazing, everyone is approachable and helpful with any problems/questions. Regular meetings with managers are scheduled and there is a clear support network to deal with any problems. The general attitude towards growth and development is great, everyone wants you to learn.
Working towards my qualifications the support is there whether it be learning a specific module and you want to utilise these skills in actual work. Or just get extra help on a specific topic from someone who's more experienced, everyone is happy to help.
My qualification relates very closely to my role, learning SQL language and new power BI skills I can directly use and improve in my day to day work.
There is social events running often for drinks, meals, mini golf etc. However I've not seen any sports related events to be involved in so far. Additionally everyone has a volunteering allowance to get involved in a variety of ways to help the community during work time!
Yes
I've grown and learnt so much since starting here both professionally and personally. Growing my technical knowledge alongside my communication and presentation skills.
Don't be too daunted by applying to a big 4, don't try be the person you think you need to be and just be yourself!
