  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My daily tasks involved a lot of inputting data into preset excel templates where I had to use judgment and my knowledge of accounting standard to judge whether they were accounted for correctly and test them accordingly.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • It really deepened my accounting knowledge as everything was put in context. I developed how to speak to clients effectively especially when they can be difficult, but still getting the point across politely.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The placement, relative to the university aspect, was quite enjoyable it destroyed any preexisting fears I had in getting an office job.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I liked aspects of the structure where we had multiple contacts for various issues with the career coach for bigger stuff and a buddy and Flying Start champion for more trivial issues. However, especially being first year, it was a lot easier to learn being in person but we could only stay in Bristol for 2 months. I had to book a hotel at the start of placement as my manager requested me to come in as the job was to complex to explain virtually. Also, even at the end of placement, I believe it would have easier if I could stay there for the whole duration as I could have learned more.
