My work experience involved a mix of practical work and insight events. I got to attend webinars on Legal Pathways, how to get into a career in law and what it means to work at Pinsent Masons. We also got to work on collaborative projects, such as business consultancy for a client and a debate on Jaffa Cakes! We also able got to work legal documentation, and client communication. A really varied and interesting programme!
We learnt how to write legal clauses and use proper legal definitions for legislation. We also learnt how to develop our commercial awareness through current events and online resources. This programme also helped us to improve our networking and collaboration skills whilst working with our peers in discussing plans and ideas.
I would say I enjoyed my time on the Pinsent Mason's Work Experience Programme very much as I was able to connect with and learn from incredible members of their team and learn a lot more about what a career in law, specifically at Pinsent Masons as a firm, would be like.
I thought our Work Experience programme was very well organised, I appreciated the fact that the timetable was added on Forage in our resources kit so that I could stay on timetable at all times. Furthermore, I thought the mix between live activities and practical work to be completed in our own time was a good balance.
I got a very good insight into what areas of law are offered at Pinsent Masons as well as all of the opportunities available to work in their offices abroad as well. The employees involved in the programme were a good representation and a positive impact on my impression of the firm too.
I feel as though the programme really helped me to consolidate that working in a career in law will be the right option for me. I really enjoyed how varied the tasks we had to complete were, which was really fulfilling for me as I understand that this is similar to the diversity of work offered in the day in the life of a lawyer.
No I was not paid or reimbursed in way, shape or form for this experience. I believe that, The Pinsent Masons Work Experience programme was purely voluntary and ran with the purpose of supporting young people to be more informed in deciding to pursue a career in the legal sector.
Yes there were several opportunities for me to network with others on the course. Two networking lunches were held which allowed me to meet with other students on the call. Furthermore, I attended the London in-person insight day last week which allowed me to not only meet other students on the programme but also other employees at the firm too.
Yes
I feel it is a law firm that really cares about the individuals it works with yet still maintains a very high level of professionalism. The work offered through their early talent schemes give very good experience to anyone wishing to learn more about or wanting to pursue a career in law.
Spend time writing your answers on your application carefully. Don't be afraid to network with others and share your ideas with people in sessions as this is how you will get the most out of them. Also, don't be afraid to ask lots of questions and most importantly- have fun!
