Within the work experience program, I had to partake in multiple independent legal tasks, as well as group tasks and debates about law. Furthermore, I had to discuss with my supervisors and other people within my group. There were multiple sessions where I had to listen to a presentation by trainees and solicitors.
From this work experience, I developed my team working skills, as I had to debate with others in my group in order to create a debate for a presentation. Also, I also learnt how to be resilient as I had to deal with legal tasks that I had no prior knowledge of. Lastly, there was a presentation on how to manage tasks and stress, which was helpful in assisting my organisational skills.
I greatly enjoyed this work experience as it gave me an insight into the necessary steps to pursue a law career as well as having fun, in a relaxed environment. Also, the experience allowed me to further my knowledge about the different types of law, and the daily lives of solicitors and trainees.
I believe the work experience was very well organised, as the timing of specific events were always correct. Also, I feel like the variety of tasks was organised well as in a day, there was a good mix of presentations, group tasks as well as independent tasks, so no day was boring.
From this work experience opportunity, I learned a lot about the company's culture and what it would be like to work there as there seems to be a heavy emphasis on inclusion and diversity. Furthermore, the overall environment of the company is very friendly, and there seems to be no hierarchal divisions between coworkers.
This work experience was very helpful on deciding on my future career path, as it solidified my desire to pursue a law career by breaking down the steps needed to become a solicitor in an understandable way. Furthermore, presentations about the the daily lives of solicitors and trainees helped me to understand what to expect.
