Managing day to day ops of dept. Everything people related, resourcing, recruitment, succession planning, development, looking at process and efficiencies, etc. Looking at dept. engagement - delivering action plans off the back of feedback (Best Companies, etc.) and making work a great place to be. Coaching both on a 1-2-1 basis as well as driving a coaching culture within the wider business.
Yes - a reminder to continually be looking to evolve and move with the times. Reminder to look at the basics when it comes to people and ensure we get and do things right from the outset to retain and develop talent. Refreshers when it comes to models to support people management, performance and getting the best from everyone.
The programme has been extremely beneficial so far in terms of both refreshing knowledge I already had but also providing more in depth theory and models to support those practices. It's provided opportunity to extend my internal support network by enabling me to work closely with peers across the business that I wouldn't have otherwise had the opportunity to do so.
Extremely - We had the workshop dates throughout the programme clearly outlined from the outset to enable us to block out in our calendars. We also have calendar invites sent well in advance with regards to any pre-work required. My coach has also been extremely supportive and again has scheduled regular catch ups throughout to discuss system (apprenticeship portal), safe-guarding, topics of the month, learnings and feedback and generally just ensure I keep on track.
Lots - my employee encouraged participation in this apprenticeship from the outset. My manager is fully supportive and understanding of what work it entails. I'm empowered to manage my own diary and off the job time so I block this out each work at a time that works well both for me but that also fits in around other work commitments. My manager provides feedback and attends the sessions as required with my coach.
Lots in terms of we have scheduled group workshops on the key topics - these are either monthly or every other month and provides an opportunity for the whole cohort to get together. They provide a list of recommended extra material that will support and embed learning (webinars, podcasts, reading, etc.), they provide a coach for regular catch ups to ensure on track and they provide a clear dashboard and timeline of what work is due in and when.
It's definitely making me stop and think more, encouraging me to be more proactive in certain areas, encouraging me to assign time to my own development and helped me explore new ways of approaching my CPD and PGP. I've appreciated the time to reflect on how I see myself and identify areas both for improvement and where I'm doing well.
There are some opportunities - networking via local CII, engagement activities that we organise for the dept. and also volunteering - we're entitled to one paid day of volunteering per year so we try and encourage this both at an individual level but also as a cross dept. / team building exercise.
