  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I continue with my existing role of Recruitment Lead which is to manage stakeholder relationships at all levels and promote best practice across recruitment, attracting talent and screening talent for our organisation. I support and coach candidates internally and externally on how to develop their career, interview feedback and preparation.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot about coaching. But within this I have also learnt a lot of skills for communication, emotional intelligence, neuro linguistic programming, stakeholder mapping etc. Plus a host of different tools, techniques and methods which help me get the best out of people and realise their full potential

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy developing my self, widening my skills and also my perspective of things. I think this has been something that's helped develop me in my professional career but also me in my personal life too. However, it is difficult to manage an apprenticeship and give up the 20% of your work hours

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is really well organised and structured. In comparison to others that I have experienced before as an apprenticeship, this programme has lots of structure. The system that they use, Bud, is very useful in visually breaking down your targets and working through them, plus finding the supporting materials

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer have been really attentive to ensure the programme is working for me. They have had continual check ins a long the way and are keen to support in any way possible. They're happy to support me in extending the programme if I can't meet the deadlines due to my workload

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • They provide me with regular monthly check-ins. My mentor is always available for any questions. She also helps me understand the content, if I need a further break down. She provides constant feedback and recommendations, which are thought provoking that continue to help me further my development in my apprenticeship journey.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification helps me develop myself personally, widening my perspective, my emotional intelligence and my mindset. It also has helped me develop some useful skills, tools and methods which I hope to use in career development as a leader but also in my day to day role with feedback and stakeholder relationships.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have a host of extra curricular activities to get involved in at work, such as professional networks, charity fund raising, community events, regular social activities and also team knowledge sharing presentations. These can be interacted with at your own will and in your own time frames, whatever suits you best

  • 9a. Would you recommend Virgin Atlantic Airways to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend the organisation I work for as the most exceptional inclusive and supportive organisation that always strive to develop their employees and retain them. The apprenticeship / training provider that we used is also highly recommended, as a simple, well structured company that emulate a supportive and inclusive culture.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Virgin Atlantic Airways?
  • I would encourage you to keep an open mind, and be happy with a role that may offer you room to grow and develop, because the company will support you on your journey and value you as not only an employee but also an individual. Seek advice and don't be afraid to ask questions
