Pinsent Masons hosted a virtual 4-day interactive experience to help give students an insight to law. Each day had a mixture of presentations, supervisor meetings and group exercises/projects. We had a wide range of speakers talking to us about daily life as a solicitor to CV and interview tips. The experience although virtual was very interactive, as we had debates with fellow students and tasks to complete both individually and collectively. The activities were designed to expose us to Law and to develop our literary and legal skills.
This experience gave me more exposure to Law and to key terminology used in the legal sector. I was able to develop my literacy, debating and problem-solving skills. By being surrounded by peers who are also interested in pursuing a career in Law, I learnt a lot from them as we shared our attitudes to studying and helped one another improve our academic skills.
I found it very enjoyable as Pinsent Masons created a very open and approachable environment where I felt i could ask questions without judgment and just try my best. Although it was virtual and at times this meant it could be challenging to fully engage in the experience, I still felt the days were very balanced and this allowed me to enjoy and get the most out of this opportunity.
The team should be commended for their organisation and well thought through schedule. Their chosen platform, forage, was easy to understand and use and allowed both presenters and students to stay on top of their work. The Early Talent Team at Pinsent Masons were easy to communicate with and ensured this week ran smoothly.
I felt fully emersed and exposed to the atmosphere and culture at the company. I was given many perspectives into life at the firm and very quickly inferred the friendly and innovative environment at Pinsent masons. The firm hosted panel talks and meetings with solicitors at the company and they were very honest about their experience at the company and in my opinion were extremely insightful to company culture.
Before this experience, I had reservations and apprehensions about pursuing a career in Law, but this insightful experience allowed me to feel secure and certain in my decision. I now feel I know the more about the reality of this career and understand what i both want to do and not want to do. It's provided me with pertinent questions about whether Law is for me and is definitely helping influence my decision.
I was not paid for this experience but was aware of this upon applying. As this was for students aged 16-18, there was no sort of payment as the point was to allow us to gain insight into Law. The knowledge Ive gained is very useful and i'm very fortunate to have this opportunity.
Yes, there were many opportunities for networking with other students at this placement. The company hosted networking lunches to get to know and ask questions to peers. There were even more opportunities to network and meet other students in group tasks and meetings. Pinsent Masons encouraged networking between students and made it easy for us to do so.
Yes
The organised and friendly environment of Pinsent Masons makes it a very commendable firm. From my experience this firm is worth your time and is committed to support and help grow as a person and in your career. I've learned a lot from my limited time here and now feel less overwhelmed with my future career path.
Be yourself and don't be afraid to put yourself out there. I was very stressed when applying for this and sometimes during the activities but when i relaxed and my confidence grew, I got more out of this experience. Don't be scared to ask questions and just try your best!
