I am a software engineer building new modern microservices using Java
I learned about the development lifecycle, cyber security and general developer skills
I enjoyed my projects as it was work based and i could learn the job whilst meeting the criteria for the apprenticeship, i also enjoyed attending courses in person
I feel it was structured well to ensure you meet all KSBs but as it was their first time doing a new updated version of the programme there was some confusion and miscommunication, and some people were given different information at times
my employer supported me 100% of the time, i was given any help and support i needed and always given the time i needed for studying/projects
we were enrolled on courses that suited our journey, however one of the courses was not quite up to scratch as it was too high level for the level of knowledge we had, this feedback was given and will hopefully improve for the next round of apprentices
I did learn some things through the training provider, I feel if I had needed support with soft skills etc they would have been helpful, but I had managed people for years before joining this was not an area I required help. Most of my learning was on the job
