My role is to ensure efficiency across all teams which saves time, money or resource. Typical tasks that sit with me and my team are mobilising new contracts, developing operational training, process improvement, leading small and large-scale projects, actioning individual team requests for transformation support, being part of the Senior Leadership Team
I certainly learnt new skills such as deepening my knowledge of finance and finance-related terminology. I have also developed in people management and utilise a range of tools learnt on the apprenticeship i.e. capacity planning, support/challenge matrix, workload overview. I incorporated lots of models into the training I developed i.e. Managers calculating learning styles for new starters.
The programme was enjoyable. It was great to meet others from outside my immediate division. There was a lot of use of break-out rooms on Teams, I'd have rathered more structured, lecture style learning but appreciate it has to cater for different learning styles. The course tutors were great, engaging and helpful.
It was relatively organised. Towards the end of the apprenticeship RTB developed an online portal to house all documentation which was a significant improvement, prior to that it was hard to keep track of resources (sent in calendar invites, during workshops etc). Often we didn't have the workshop materials sent to us after the workshop which they put down to the admin team.
My immediate line managers were very understanding about the work required for my apprenticeship (one was doing the same qualification herself). A lot of my team were useful in providing witness testimonies which was great for my development. All in all they were great at supporting me throughout my apprenticeship.
My first coach wasn't very good [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]. However my second coach [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was fantastic, a really lovely woman who gave me all the support and guidance I needed - I'd recommend anyone to have her if they could!
It has opened my eyes to a range of tools I can use within my role to produce better results. For example, following the Project Management module I put together a really useful 'all-in-one' project management tool that I now use for all my projects, which includes a GANTT chart, risk log, decision log, lessons learned log etc.
Yes we are very lucky at Acacium Group to have access to a range of extra-curricular activities. One I am particularly involved in is our Corporate Social Responsibility Committee where I lead our charity initiatives. Things I have lead include charity netball tournaments and coffee mornings for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Yes
I work with amazing, like-minded people who all strive to deliver high-quality services, whilst knowing when to have a laugh. I have had a number of promotions since being with the company which reflects the opportunities I have had access too. Next year we are trialling a 9-day fortnight in a bid to improve work-life balance - all-in-all I love the company, even down to working from home!
I would advise people applying to not be afraid to highlight what ideas they think they could bring to the role as we're always looking for ways to improve and new ideas will always be welcomed. I would also recommend reading into the contracts you'd be working on, as local detail will always go a long way!
