Overview of the role on a day to day basis differs and is dependent on the client you are on and the time at which you join the client. Daily tasks could involve anything from something simple such as rolling forward information from prior year to current year, or sending/documenting samples or it could be something more complicated such as analytics.
An existing skill I have developed is communication. Communication is key within all areas of business, and during my second placement this has developed. Communication internally with team members, learning to constantly communicate with those "in charge" so they have a good idea of where you are at and your progress. But also Communication externally with the client is very important and is a skill I have further developed on this placement
I enjoy the programme to a good extent. I like the fact that the 3 placements are broken up rather than being 1 whole year long placement. I feel as though this really adds good balance to the programme, and also allows you to come back each year with more experience and more knowledge
The programme is definitely well structured, as mentioned I enjoy that the placements are broken up as it gives you great balance while being at university at the same time. I think that we learn the right modules at the right stages and even though the programme can be intense, the time we qualify in as well as getting a great number of ICAEW days is unmatched.
We receive a great amount of support from our employer, they are extremely helpful and also ensure that we know that they are always here to help and support us. They go out of their way to support us further and make me feel very comfortable and that I know that there is always somebody I can talk too.
The support received from the training provider is dependent for me on the module discussed and the tutor for that module. With some tutors I feel more comfortable with some less so, The help I get is more based on comfortability, however saying this, it doesn't stop me asking for help.
I feel as though the role at hand can be easily completed without the training and qualification at this current stage. I feel as though this question would be more relevant and be better directed at myself a couple of years down the line where I am in a more experienced role and where I actually apply what I have learnt into my role
There are lots of huge social activities that are planned for the whole office and then smaller social activities that are for teams working together on the same client, The big social events are open to everyone and always have a large attendance. There are also always networking events. In regards to sports teams, I'm not too sure if there are any/many, if there are then it's not too well advertised.
Yes
I think the biggest factor why I would recommend PwC to a friend is because of the people that work there Although the big name may seem intimidating, there is a great comfortability and everyone is very nice and always willing to help you learn and progress. There is a great culture around the company
The main tip I would give to others applying to PwC would be to Be Yourself, don't try to be/act like someone who you are not. If you are right for the company they will pick you off of your unique personality, not someone you may think the company want you to be.
