The overall day to day work included performing tasks under Auditing. This mean performing tests and taking samples from accounting records of different clients. Due to this, I was in direct contact of the client from where it helped to improve my professional skills and ensured I gained an insight how documents are requested.
Skills which I developed include social skills such as communicating with team members, senior managers and even clients. I improved my team work skill in which we all were given our tasks independently but constantly checked up on each other to ensure we were being efficient and effective to get the work done on time.
I fully enjoyed the programme as it provided me with an insight into how Audits work in the real life world. From conducting risk assessments to having fun socials, my time during the placement was fully optimised as it helped me to gain more confidence and experience into audits in the UK.
The programme is very well structured as it ensures you get university experience as well as your placement experience. It is split into 4 years in which you complete 3 set of placements. After your placements, you apply your knowledge to ICAEW exams which you do when you are at University.
There was an exceptional amount of support which I received from Pwc which included Flying Start Champion, Programme Manager, Career Coach, Buddy and even our University contacts. This ensured I was constantly check up on to make sure I was physically and mentally capable of working through my time at the placement.
The support is very helpful as firstly you learn from your placement experience which you can apply towards your qualifications which is an essential part of your exams as they are based on real life scenarios. Also, the study manuals are provided by the ICAEW which you can learn from very easily.
It provides us with extreme care and help as if you have any questions about your studies, you can go to several contacts to ensure you get the correct answer. The qualification means you learn what is required to perform audit work to the standards set by ISA within the UK.
There are many events which you can get involved at during your time at work. Every week, there are many social activities which take place including various sports, team dinners and more. There are even networks such as the Muslim Network or LGTBQ network where you can get together and share views and attend socials.
Yes
I think Pwc is a great way to become fully qualified as they offer you so much support in relation to your exams and provide a friendly environment where you can learn from other people who have already completed their exams. Also, you can use this experience from placement in the future.
Firstly, I would say to do your research on Pwc and see if the career path is applicable for yourself as it will differ for every person. Once you have done the research, you can just apply to the programme as it is offered at various universities around the UK including Nottingham, Manchester and Reading.
