I was an Auditor for PwC in the Asset Wealth and Management department where I worked on various different engagement teams to help to Audit client companies. This involves contacting client with samples of transactions in which we need some sort of support showing these transactions are valid within their system
I have learnt many new skills especially with my auditing knowledge. More general skills would be social skills within a professional environment, as well as skills with technology on excel. Other important life skills are getting used to a working day routine and being more independent around this change in environment.
I enjoyed the programme a lot because I was able to talk to new people and learn at the same time. Everyone I met was so welcoming and nice that I think it would be hard to find a reason why you wouldn't enjoy it. As it is my first placement it was not repetitive with the work I was completing.
The programme was very structured with everyone new joining having a Buddy (An FS2) and a Career coach. These people for me is what allowed me to be confident in what I was doing and taught me many skills that I would have otherwise not been able to learn in training.
There is so much support from the employer. If I was ever struggling with support everyone and anyone is so supportive and welcoming to questions. The environment is very much a learning zone for new employees so everyone is helpful if and when you have an issue with something regarding work.
We get a lot of support from training provider. Although most of our qualification exams are at university and not on placement so we would not receive support directly from them. But PwC do support the university with resources etc which would then aid us students massively in the process.
I feel like it helps us to perform way better. Without doing out exams beforehand then we would all be a bit lost in the workplace and it would cause other employees to have to give up time so that we would be able to even understand the task at hand.
I signed up to be apart of the rugby group at work. Along with this there are a range of socials which happen at minimum every couple weeks. These socials are a great place to get to know the people you are working with outside of a working environment and get the chance to speak with them about something that isn't work.
Yes
I would recommend to a friend purely based on the fact that I enjoyed it so much. The range of skills I learnt were simply invaluable to a person of my age in the professional environment that is set up at PwC. It is a great opportunity to kick start your career in the industry.
As the programme has a couple of assessments required to pass to get onto the course most of my tips would be to do with that. Make sure you are professional around other PwC employees and also stick to the values and morals that PwC are very passionate to have.
