  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • So, my job role is to sort out files on sites and help out wherever I can. I combine documents together to send out to the whole of the region. When I am in the office I compile information into spreadsheets on excel, order stationary to North West sites. When I am on site I sort out health and safety documents into different folders and scan them through to be able to put them onto my computer and send the out to the relevant people.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt so many new skills and developed existing ones in my job role. Using excel has been a vital skill that I have learnt whilst being a business administrator, I have learnt how to use it and lots of tips and tricks from colleagues who are always willing to help. One of the most important skills I have developed whilst being on my apprenticeship is my confidence, being able to send out emails and tlak to very important people on the phone has really improved my self esteem and confidence when talking to new people.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My apprenticeship is really organised. I have had meetings with my line manager, my development coach regularly to see how I am getting on and whether I have any concerns or questions about where I am at. I have set days where I am in the office and on site, I get a lot of notice before anything changes so I am able to plan my time well.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • From my employer I receive a lot of support. I know that if I had anything that was bothering me or I didn't feel safe whilst anywhere in my job that my employer would support me. Being a young female on a construction site is different but I have been supported all the way through.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider provides me with a lot of support. I know that if I had any questions or issues with my apprenticeship my development coach would reply to me quickly to answer any queries tat I have and help me with whatever it was that i was struggling with

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think tat my training provider can be quite over bearing at times. I have qualifications like maths and english and I get on with my online learning in y own time. Sometimes having so much time with my training provider, e.g 2 and a half hours over teams or in person is way too much and it takes away from my time actually learning within my job

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I do get involved in extra curricular activities in work, for example there are groups that i am a part of that help me as there are people in the groups that are the same as me and i am able to meet people who are doing the same or different things to me and i can see the business differently.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Wates to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think wates group (SES) are such a good company to work for. You are an employee to them and they care about you. They want you to feel safe and happy at work. I think they are fair and they have helped me come a long way during my apprenticeship that a lot of other companies might not have.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Wates?
  • I would just say that you should be yourself. Research the company a bit before applying just so that you can get a bit of insight into what the business is, what they do and what they stand for. Being yourself will get you everywhere you want to be in life.
