  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is in admin. I would do data entry, admin tasks, post, write checks to begin with. Further into my course, I then started to do a couple of weeks work in every department in the business. This let me get a good understanding of our entire organisation.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I definitely developed my skills when it came to sending emails, being formal and professional. I also developed many skills such as using different IT softwares and platforms, along with using company in-house programmes. I was also able to further develop my skills with others support.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed it a lot as I found the work relatively fun and was able to apply it to my day to day job. The only time I was not enjoying my course was during the period when my tutor was switched 3-4 times which did not help. Excluding that period, everything was perfect and I enjoyed my programme a lot.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very organised. All tutor meetings are booked at the previous meeting to ensure structure. I also thought that the assessment at the end was well organised and it was booked weeks in advance. This gave time to prepare and revise.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employers fully supported me throughout the duration of my course, they did this by provided times for me to study and take tutor calls, by provided me with resources for my EPA project, and allowing me to have freedom in the business to see each department and how they work. This gave me a great understanding of how our business works.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider/tutor helped practice my presentation with me on video calls almost weekly which boosted confidence while speaking and helped get timing correct for the exam. I also received support if things were not too great, e.g if I was ill I was still provided with the support and rescheduled.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel as though my qualification taught me the fundamentals of business as well as good business management skills and especially project management skills. Each time I set out to start a project in my new role I use a similar process and similar tactics to do so. Such as still using GAANT charts and using the same time management skills.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • At my work there is a hand full of extra curricular activities that you can take part in such as social activities like going out for a meal or a day out occasionally. There other activities such as overtime and double time in the office. We also have ping pong tables.

  • 9a. Would you recommend IMS to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I think the staff is valued at IMS and progression is possible if you wish to do so. I feel as though the training delivered is exceptional and the staff are all very nice. The managers, directors and team leaders are all very happy to help and a great referral source.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IMS?
  • I would advise them to be confident in their interview and to have plenty of questions ready for the interviewer. I would advise them to be themselves and to do some research on the company as a whole. Finally I would recommend them to be calm in their words as nerves do show.
