My role involves liaising with clients and contractors to develop a project over its life-cycle from it's initial concept through the construction to completion. My day to day job involves ensuring that the project is delivered on time and within budget.
I learnt how to effectively priorities tasks ensuring that deadlines are met to a suitable standard. Also developed communication skills which I have applied when communicating with colleges and external client and individual. Finally my written communication skills have been develop by writing email and drafting reports.
I have enjoyed the programme thoroughly due to their being no two days the same which is very unique in keeping me engaged throughout. Also the mix of study time and working time allows me to develop in the workplace gaining experience whilst also acertaining an education.
The programme is extremely well organised by having all equipment required therefore you are able to hit the ground running by being able to transition into your role very quickly by being included in all project meeting. This show how well organised the programme is to have a seamless transition.
There is an amazing amount of support from employer to ensure that you aren't getting overloaded with your current workload. Their is also lots of support schemes in place to support every employee which cover a wide range of parameters to ensure all bases are covered.
Whilst working toward my degree their is support through which are all available and if they cannot deal with the issue they can direct you to the required individual or organisation to resolve your issue and this support is easily accessible. As student we are constantly reminded of this service.
The qualification help to provided the basis or theory which can then be applied to the day to day job therefore their is relevance between the two which help with the application. As I've progressed further I have seen how this comes more to the forefront.
Professional networking is heavily encouraged here to build relationships with employee and therefore you know individual who are knowledgeable, this can be beneficial when using problem solving skills. We also come together as a collective to have regular comms session to be aware of achievement to celebrate together.
