Day to Day work involves shadowing senior project managers and becoming more familiar with what the Job role of a project manager actually entails. This includes: weekly/monthly reporting using specific software to track project progress and communicate with contractors Joining and participating in meetings both online and F2F
My communication skills have improved vastly as well as my overall confidence both with-in the role and in day to day life.
Programme has been enjoyable thus far, learning a large amount of information in a short space of time which is helping my development extraordinarily.
Considering I am in the first set of PM apprentices here the structure for the university is very good and well set out. However, the structure for the apprenticeship on the whole is very different and relies on you to work at your own pace and ask for help when needed.
Thames Water offer great support for me, there is a number of people I can go to for help regarding any issues I have.
The university support is only an email away and they are quick to respond and always happy to put in a call for you.
Everything you learn through the university course can be directly applied to day to day work.
Professional networking days come around every so often as well as apprentice & graduate days where we all come into head office and have an organised talk delivered to us all.
