I usually spend my day shadowing a CPT (chemical process technician) and assisting them in carrying out various tasks such as opening/closing valves and operating the process control system, I carry out lab testing of samples I have collected and also spend time learning the process of my plant and completing my NVQ.
I have gained an excellent knowledge of processing and manufacturing in the time I have been here and also gained a basic mechanical knowledge which I hope to develop further.
I really enjoy coming to work as I am always meeting new people all the time due to the shift pattern and I have always got something to do whether it be on plant or working towards my qualification.
My programme is extremely well organised with a clear plan for what plants I will be moving on to and also for my NVQ which has a clear plan of what I need to complete and when.
I receive huge amounts of support from my employer who is always open for an quick chat about anything I may be concerned about. Monthly 1-1 meetings are organised to catch up on NVQ and apprenticeship progress which I find very helpful.
I receive good support from my provider during college time and when my assessor comes on site to review my NVQ progress.
I have gained a massive amount of new skills which I will be able to apply in my future role and feel that the teamwork and communication skills can be applied in any role I may take in the future.
A teambuilding, behavioural trip is planned for July which will hopefully enhance these vital communication and teamwork skills even more.

It is a great place to work with many paths of progression for my future and has given me invaluable skills that I will carry into any role I may find myself in.
The apprenticeship programme provides you with many skills that you can take forward into any career choice even if it is not in manufacturing.
