Working in the chemical development in the process engineering team, where drugs are taken from drug design to market. My role involves developing more sustainable processes by spending lots of time in the lab, as well as in the office to communicate with my team and projects.
- Public speaking and presentation skills by communicating technically and non-technically in meetings towards other professionals - Going from 0 experience as an engineer to being the main user of my equiptment in 6 months - Organising time between work, uni and social life, as well as working this round other people when setting up meetings or events
I absolutely love my apprenticeship - went from 100% wanting to go to uni to being in a role I really enjoy whilst learning through my degree and through the work I do. You are constantly motivated by how your work saves lives and the company are so supportive wanting you to get the most possible out of the scheme.
20% of hours dedicated to uni is given every week. Goals are set every year for what you want to achieve, alongside a plan for your whole apprenticeship.
You are supported by a line manager, mentor and buddy to ensure you are always happy and managing okay. They are really good at giving you leniance if uni is really busy and just generally making sure you are happy with the work you are doing.
Good level of support - course is well structured and there are lots of ways to corrospond with staff through email, forums and live webinars.
Degree directly relates to what my team and I do, so I am constantly understanding more of what goes on around me.
Absolutely, especially for apprentices and young employees (from learning more about the company to nights out!) Also lots of Employee Resource Groups that you canjoin if they align to your interests. Lots of scope to attend conferences and events of your choice relating to your role too. There is a gym on site and a few sports teams I believe.
