  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as an apprentice on a day to day basis is managing to create requisitions, doing offer forms, calling candidates for interview bookings, Sourcing candidates to see if their experiences/qualifications are suitable for the job role and sending them to my line manager. Having weekly team meetings to see how far i have progressed as an apprentice. I really enjoy talking to my colleagues through having catch up calls in the morning or just being in the office and getting lunch together. I feel like as an apprentice i am able to learn so much from different colleagues and pick up different methods on how to do my day to day tasks, I've also done some site visits and gone to HR conference as well.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The apprenticeship course, is theory based and it is information heavy, so when it does come to doing the EPA, i'll be able to look back through my notes I've made while going through each topic. It is really enjoyable the apprenticeship course and i'm really happy in terms of my needs being met to have face to face tutoring and how the tutor is able to explain the concepts in an easy informed way.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Kier Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Every day is a different day and no day is always the same. You'll have a good support network around you who are like family and they'll always would want you to feel at ease and comfortable and you'll always be learning something new and you will be a valuable member of the team. Whenever your struggling you can ask any one of your colleagues to help or to check if the work that you are is correct.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Kier Group?
  • The Advice i would give is, look at what kind of apprenticeship you want to do at kier and base it on your experience and see if you have transferable or similar skills to mirror the job description and always do your research about the company (knowing their values that they stand by and how it was founded etc) and practicing interview questions and ask family and friends to help you to feel prepared for when actually doing the interview. When going for an interview go with confidence and know that while they are interviewing you and asking you questions to see if you match their criteria as the right candidate but know at the same time you should ask questions after the interviewer has asked you questions because it shows a sign of curiosity and also that you are invested in the role that you applied for and you are also assessing if the company is a right fit for you as well.
