  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves having e-mail communications with clients and insurers to secure the best deal for the client. There is also a lot of admin like saving files and e-mails into DMS and updating FINMAR. I have also edited slips and put them onto PPL for insurers to sign and then bill them.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt how to file and properly write emails professionally. Business etiquette is also different to how they teach us in school. my team especially is very laid back and much more comfortable with each other. a great skill to have is confidence and having the energy to socialise.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme, especially my team. The apprenticeship provider isn't the best at all but the company is amazing and very welcoming. I would recommend it to anyone leaving sixth form or even after university. The apprenticeship provider themselves are very unorganised and a bit messy but other than that , 10/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Not at all. Mainly due to the apprenticeship provider. Info at first that was given to us was very confusing. they do seminars as teaching but its not very interactive so very easy to just fall asleep. Team wise, i wouldn't say its organised in terms of what work i get but they do make sure i am busy

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • a lot. willis makes sure that the apprentices are confident and comfortable with their role. my team in particular makes sure that the apprentices on my team are included in everything they do like lunches or drinks. really push us forward to network and be more confident. there's a mentoring scheme if needed

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • they give lessons, university style which isn't for everyone (especially as thats the reason i didnt go uni) so its very easy to fall asleep during the lessons. they have reviews with your skills coach who asks questions off of a form and fills it in and that's all. and they have an email if you need help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • learning the cii definitely helps understand the insurance market and industry better. so i can understand the conversations being held when they're talking about insurance in general. to my role, it's not so helpful - it's a lot of info on insurance in general and not to my role specifically so i wouldn't say it helps me perform better at all. i think that's to do with your team and experience.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are lots of activities - networking, drinks, lunches, even bowling and karaoke. its very inclusive and everyone is always there to have fun. there are sports teams but i do not get involved with that. linkedin has a huge presence so make sure you have an account to network with.

  • 9a. Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • because it is an inclusive company that socialises a lot and they make everyone in the company feel comfortable to work there. everyone is so polite and there are loads of events to get to know the company better. plus its a huge company so if you didn't want to broke, there is a place somewhere for you.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
  • be yourself and honest. in the interview, they ask a lot of random questions and its not to trick you - its more to get a feel of the type of person you are so be honest about it. do the research about the company, definitely don't turn up to interviews without knowing basic facts about it.
