My role is a business developer which basically means I help my depot grow and develop. I call account holders when their account is open, when there are offers and sales and when there is any issues that need resolving with there account. I also assist my manger and assistant managers with jobs they need to get done.
I have developed many skills working at Howdens. The main one being my people skills, I have grown to understand different peoples opinions and values and use this to be an effective employee. Other skills i have developed is computer skills, listening skills and customer service skills. All of these skills run along basic life skills.
I enjoy my apprenticeship fully. I have a great team around me who i love working with who help me grow and develop in my role and teach me how to become the best version of myself. i feel i am fully supported and enjoy talking with builders and end users on a day to day basis.
My programme is very well structed and i have clear work set for each time my apprenticeship trainer comes in to see me. This will be regularly usually once a month and he helps me with any queries or issues i have. I then give myself time during my work day to focus on some tasks that have been set.
My employer supports me fully and gives me many opportunities to learn more about the job role and also fully supports me with anything i am struggling with. I have time in my work day to complete my work and my apprenticeship work also and i have great support with time management
My training provider is great. He supports ,e fully and comes to see me on a regular basis and sets me work. He is understanding and reassures me about my work. He will help me anytime with problems i am facing or barriers in the work where i need a little more explaining
The qualification helps massively with my job role. It improves the way i speak to customers and how i deal with them. The massive thing it helps with is to understand the business and how i can help my business grow and succeed. It also helps me to learn about the bcak ground of my business
In my work there are many work events , Christmas doos and social events to attend, this helps with team bonding and team skills within the business. There are also fundraising events we get involved with like the great Manchester 10k and charities such as teenage cancer trust and british heart foundation

I have already got a friend working at Howdens as it is such a great, welcoming company to work for with many great opportunities. It is also a company which fully support and care for each employee. It also has many charity events to attend which raise a lot of money which makes Howdens a company to be proud to work for.
When applying for Howdens be yourself and dont be shy. Have a nice friendly chat with the employer and dont be nervous. Stay relaxed and do some research on the company before entering your interview so you have some background to talk about this will look good on your behalf
