I work in a primary school In tower hamlets, my job role includes working in a year 1 mainstream class room but also in a key stage 1 provision classroom. A provision classroom is a small classroom that consists of 7 children with SEND needs. I support the teacher with everyday activities and learning and I am also a 1-1 for a young child.
I have learned a wide range of new skills and I still am continuing to learn. Ive learned skills I didn’t believe I could. I’ve learned how to deal with challenging situations effectively and professionally, I’ve learned how to alter my communication in order for children to understand me better. I’ve also learned many SEND strategies and what can help Children with autism get through their day easier. I’ve also learned how to assess children’s learning and many more.
I enjoy my program immensely! I’ve always wanted to work with children but I have never had the confidence to do so, however Inspire ATA has given me so much support with my role and any worries I have that it’s gave me the confidence boost I needed! It’s a great comfortable learning experience with lots of support!
I believe the program is very well structured. Due to me being able to find my way around their online platform very easily and I’m able to access any materials on hand. All my meetings with my tutor are always 4 weeks apart and they never miss a meeting! I’m able to find and upload any work and I can always go back and check the work I’ve uploaded. The course is very clear and they make sure you u set stand why you will be expected before you start.
The support from inspire ATA has been really amazing for me! They have supported me with any worries or concerns I have had in placement and always followed up with me and the school to make sure everything is okay! They are also very supportive to me personally for example i have had some personal problems happening and they have gone above and beyond to support me with that.
Really great! I speak to my tutor every 4 weeks but I am always able to email or call whenever there is a problem! I’m able to voice any concerns and she will always talk me through it, making me feel like nothing is ever too much. Every time an assignment is set she will take the time to make sure I fully understand the work. I’ve also voiced concerns over certain subjects and she has arranged specialised help for me straight away, which I found extremely helpful.
My qualifications help me perform better due to the assignments giving me more in-depth knowledge of certain areas involved in a teaching assistant role. It has given me the knowledge to help me know what my placement expects of me and how I can perform my job role to the best of my ability.
We always have a school bbq for all staff to help network and we also have a lot of staff events to help network too, these are usually after work at the end term. We also have weekly training after school on a Wednesday to help support us in our job role
Yes
Due to them being extremely supportive in any situation and very easy to contact if there is ever any worries! The coursework is spread out evenly so it never gets too much and if it ever does they are always there to help. They are extremely supportive employers who care about their learners.
To ensure that they have their GCSE’s and if not and they need support then make them aware of that so they can support you, but also to be committed and very honest and open about how you feel about the work and any concerns you may have in placement or in your learning.
