I work in the Finance area and post journals, extract data from various systems, assist with gathering and explaining evidence for audit and consider process improvements.
I have learned a lot of new skills especially with excel and finance systems such as SAP, I have learned a lot about accountancy in practice and in theory and the importance and impact of financial reporting and management accounting on business decisions
I really enjoy the program I am on, the theory and practical sides both compliment each other very well I am constantly learning and constantly challenged but never feel like i have more than i can handle and the support is amazing
The program could be more structured and more information given about the long term plan. However the lack of structure does enable fluidity giving me more say in what I want to focus on and learn and areas to develop.
I receive as much support as I could want. I have regular check ins with my direct manager and my team frequently make sure I'm comfortable with my work and always offer to teach me new things. If I need extra time to study I am given it.
A lot. There are a lot of resoucres available through kaplan, On-demand tutors, mocks,a website full of supporting information, revision cards, workbooks, classroom sessions, however you learn best kaplan will have something useful for your learning style and the assigned coach is lovely and so helpful.
The theory makes sense and gives a good background understanding of what I am doing and why, but the CIMA qualification I am doing relates to what are now mostly automated processes in the modern world and feels like it should be more relevant.
There are plenty of opportunities to be involved in extra-curriculars, there's the internal yammer with hobby pages like photography, etc. Opportunities for volunteering days during work time, the chance to help local schools learn about finance, networking events, it's really up to you to make the most of
Yes
The culture is really good, everyone is nice, normal, understanding and friendly and take pride in their work. There are a lot of opportunities if you have the drive to look for them and work towards them, it's a really good level of work/life balance.
Be yourself, be curious, make sure you understand the groups values and that they are a good fit for you, dont be afraid to be honest and ask questions.
