I work supporting claims handlers dealing with claims up to the value of £15,000 for buildings and contents. Primarily dealing with claims for escape of water and fire, but also other perils. I support the team by answering referrals, delivering training and coaching, approving payments and reviewing their progress.
Leadership, training and coaching, IT skills such as using excel - creating pivot tables and using conditional formatting, communication - speaking to peers, clients and stakeholders.
I enjoy learning new skills and knowledge about insurance on the whole, which I can then apply to my job and deliver the knowledge I have learnt to handlers.
The programme is very well structured with specific goals to meet each month. The only issue I have is that in my job I don't always have the time to fit all of this in around my day-to-day tasks.
My team leader tries to support me as much as possible, ensuring I can take the necessary off the job time needed to complete my apprenticeship work.
I know that if I have further questions regarding my apprenticeship I can turn to my coach. He also tries to provide additional materials if there is something in particular I want to develop my knowledge in.
My qualifications give me further knowledge I can apply to claims decisions and also pass onto the handlers to help them better understand their roles.
There have been opportunities to attend professional networking events that RSA have been invited to.

I enjoy my job, get the support I need to progress and there are plenty of opportunities for progression. RSA is full of good people to work with.
Let people know early on how you want to progress and they will support any way they can.
