On a day to day basis my day at work will usually start by prepping whichever station I am to be working, for example if I'm on starters, ill prep the salads by cutting up tomato's, cucumbers, and onions. I may also need to get some prawns and bread out. In the day ill be cooking, and if needed i am always happy to pop over to the pot wash to keep the load of dishes down. At the end of the day I will close down my section and do what I can to help with the closedown, for example cleaning the floors or helping with the pot wash and desserts closedown
Due to this apprenticeship, I believe I've developed all of my skills in the kitchen, it ha s allowed my to understand why I do what I do in the kitchen and cook everything the way I do. The apprentice has helped my understand the importance of how to properly clean everything in the kitchen, from surfaces, to utensils and storage containers.
I enjoy the experience of researching through this programme, it gives me the freedom to go and research and discover things about my job role and this industry myself, I love learning more when it comes to this as it broadens my knowledge on a subject I want as much knowledge as I can get in.
I believe this programme is structured very well, its allowed me to discover and learn more in-depth things about my job at a reasonable pace, the order in which my work has come has worked very well for me and I honestly believe it has helped my develop my skills in the kitchen
My Employer, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] i s a tough Boss but is there when someone needs him, he is there to support me in both my work and responsibilities on the premises and any issues outside of work. This support has allowed me to be more confident in myself when it comes to my job.
My Training provider, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] has been both very supportive and patient with me, he has given my space and freedom to do my own research and learning but is always there to help my understand something when I need the help, this balance between being supportive while giving me freedom has helped me a lot through this course.
While I have not yet earned my qualification, the work I've done and what been provided to me by my training provider has helped me perform to a much higher degree, the programme has helped me answer the questions of why, how, and when do i do what i do in the kitchen instead or simply doing what i do just because.
Outside of work the team and I do socialise a good amount, we love to have a pint and a chat after shift, discuss both work and life in general, and of course we all love to go out for a couple drinks now and then, this has allowed most of our team to be quite close.
Yes
Marstons is a place to work were you matter, you are a part of a team that needs to work perfectly to ensure the best food and service, the team cares about each other and from my experience managers do care and are not simply there to boss you around, but to help you evolve and improve in every aspect of work.
When it comes to applying to Marstons I would tell anyone and everyone to simply be themselves, apply themselves and show their willingness to work and adapt when needed, and of course be willing to work as part of a team and teamwork and communication is the core of Marstons
