On a day to day basis, I spend time on site using equipment to set out and survey works along with completing check sheets and taking pictures to make her the work is happening as it should. I also use software like AutoCAD and sketchup in the office.
I have learnt many new skills so far like how to use a total station, dumpy level, laser level, gps along with how to set out and mark things up. Adding to that I have developed my report writing skills and CAD skills
I enjoy the programme a lot as I’m learning whilst working-half the time I don’t realise. The company also has a good early careers programme which involves things like residentials and training-its very invested in its apprentices
It is very well thought out and structured making it easy to follow and know exactly what I am doing
There is so much support available-different members of staff know different things and it’s easy to ask questions
There is support from my training provider but not loads
So far it’s been helping me learn the basics and building up from there which is good and I am slowly putting more of what I’ve learnt into use in my job role
There are activities to get involved in-I will sometimes join in depending on what it is and when it is
Yes
The company knows how to look after apprentices and in general is a good company to work for. The staff re friendly and easy to ask questions to if stuck
Be yourself, don’t be afraid to step outside the box and show off your knowledge
