My day-to-day role is customer sales. What this means is that I am in the back office and if customers phone I answer and assist them and make sure they are being looked after and continue to spend.
I have learnt the different types of methods people use to learn. I learnt that I was a kinaesthetic learner which means I learn better by watching someone doing it then I copy. This seems to work. I also learnt about active listening and how it is key in making you a good salesperson.
I love my programme and meeting new people from other brands and branches and hearing about different processes they follow in branch, like taking the drivers keys until they have finished loading.
I feel like the apprenticeship is structured well between the 1-2-1s. Also, with the webinars, you have ample opportunity to get help in any areas you need. My coach always emails me and asks if I need any help with anything I am working on.
A good amount.
A lot.
I feel the qualification i am working towards helps me in my role as I am learning all about the business and what is key to Travis Perkins Plc. I am learning about compliance and sales as much as learning the stages of a house build. It is great.
We sponsor our local football team and we take customers out. It is a good day out and you are getting to see them outside of work and get to know them as people. It is great. We recently had an apprenticeship meeting with other apprentices and went out for dinner.
Yes
It is great here at Travis Perkins. It feels like the sky is the limit. In the 2 years I have been here, I have started in the yard, been to the front counter and now I am in the office and it shows if you work hard it works.
I would just say work hard, enjoy coming to work and definitely get on an apprenticeship as it is amazing. If you have just started, it is unreal. The whole experience for me has been positive. I really do love my job and cannot wait to see what the future has in store.
