My role consists of working with my staff and customers day in day out to provide the best service possible. I always ensure I am helping customers to the best of my ability and knowledge and I encourage my staff to do the same. I strive at receiving good feedback so I'm able to give my staff the recognition they deserve.
I have learnt a lot around the different topics around retail that I wasn't aware of before taking the apprenticeship. I've learnt about the different types of customers we may experience in store and how to deal with them this has helped me immensely since completing my apprentice.
I really enjoyed the programme I had a lovely trainer who I couldn't fault she was always so supportive and encouraged me at all times. If I was ever struggling I knew I could ask her, also my line manager at the time also checked up on me and asked me how it was going.
I would've liked a rota as to where I could see when I was able to go off and concentrate on my apprenticeship work as sometimes I found it hard to balance both working my retail job and completing my apprenticeship work at the same time. Its good to find a balance between the two.
I did receive a lot of help from my employer if I needed it they'd help me if I had questions and provide me with any information I needed for my work. I just wish I would've had more time and it was structured better to ensure I got more time to complete my work the best of my ability.
My training supplier was amazing my trainer ensured I always understood all my work and everything I learnt on our monthly catch up calls, anything i was unsure of she took her time and had patience with me to explain everything I was unsure of which was really nice.
Since starting my qualification during my time of completing it I was actually promoted to a front end team leader which was really amazing for me because I was able to put my skills into practice that I was learning and it has encouraged me to go onto the next step and maybe consider going for another qualification.
Not that I'm aware of that I'd really want to take part in I'd need to do some more research around this topic. I am aware that there is a football team that meet up every two weeks in my old store that I wouldn't be interested in starting but this could be something to look into.
Yes
I've been working in B&Q since I was 16 years old so I'm currently 8 years in and I have been on various different department which has been amazing as I've learnt so much which has got me where I am today I'm currently a team leader for Solihull Tradepoint.
I would encourage people to apply to work at b&q its a great company to work for and there's may great opportunities to go for to develop your career and learning with many supportive people around you to encourage and help you along the way which is amazing to be around.
