I am a newly promoted demi chef. I cook on the line. I cook different styles of pork belly, steak, seafood, liver and I make the famous scotch eggs. I also cook for different dietary requirements every day. I cook over 30 dishes a day and for close to 100 customers.
I am always learning something new every day. My head chef really supports me to learn a new dish. One of favourite dishes I have learnt and cooked is the lobster spaghetti because it is packed with great flavour. I also learnt how make a perfect broth which I found very interesting.
From the start of my programme I had a very good teacher and I really enjoyed my time on the programme because he spent extra time with me and I was able to learn more and better from him. Now that he is gone I find that I’m enjoying okay but wish he was my tutor still.
My programme has good information and modules incorporated in it which I can benefit from. It has a range of ways I can learn which I think is really good for me to grow my skills and my career especially in the kitchen. I do enjoy the programme module so far.
Wow! I receive 100% support from my line manager and teams and Fortnums. I can not thank my manager enough for his support and help and seeing me as a talent. He really cares about my development and my career and has given me such strength to carry on the programme.
I Think the support from the training provider and their tutor I can benefit more from as I feel that it is very 50/50. I really enjoyed the first few months with my old tutor with them but now I am yet to see how it goes with the new tutor.
I feel very happy as during the programme I have received a promotion and learnt a range of skills for my role. This has really and Truly has developed me for the better and I feel very excited about my next steps and careers and fortnum and Mason going forward.
My role has helped me to take part in a range of events that we host. It is great for me to take part in it as I can do extra learning and growing and also cook new dishes in the kitchen which are not on the menu and helps me to grow and learn better.
Yes
Absolutely because they need to work at fortnum and Mason. I really have enjoyed working here as my manager and team are fantastic support and I have grown very much in here from a kitchen Porter to now a Demi chef in the kitchen cooking high class dishes and learning something new everyday.
My advice to those wanting to join fortnum and Mason would be that I will say to them what fortnum and Mason did for. I will say to them and explain how they helped me to go up and create a career at fortnum and Mason within a short amount of time.
