I work in the customer development function with the shopper marketing team. I support my team by raising purchase orders to ensure vendors are paid on time for the campaigns they create for us. In my spare time, i learn about the visibility campaigns my team create so i'm able to independently carry out a shopper campaign from start to finish.
Something i have massively improved in is my confidence and communication skills. I receive so much support from my manager and team to go out of my comfort zone and network with other employees around the company-something i would never do. I am doing a data apprenticeship so i'm slowly building on my excel skills also.
I love what i do because of the people i'm surrounded with. When i go to the office or log on and speak to people, it doesn't feel like i'm working because of the friendliness and kindness i'm surrounded with. The people i work with care for me and go above and beyond to make sure i'm okay and am receiving the best training possible.
My programme is structured well. I work 4 days a week, with one day being my study day. In that time, i can complete my assignments and attend up-skilling workshops. Every month, my multiverse coach will do a 3 hour learning session so we have the content and knowledge we need to complete our assignments.
I receive a good amount of support. They send us regular emails with updates and a representative will call us once a month to check in, ensure we are on the correct learning path, and check if we have any issues or need further support. They respond efficiently if we have any queries/issues.
My coach from my training provider will do 3 hour sessions with us once a month to cover content and ensure we have the correct knowledge we need to complete assignments. My coach schedules monthly 1-1 meetings so he can give me feedback on my assignment and performance. My coach also schedules meetings once every 2 months with my manager and I to ensure i'm working towards my qualifications well and address any concerns we have.
My apprenticeship is predominantly data-based however, my role doesn't involve much data as i work for the marketing team. Nonetheless, i'm still learning skills which will always come useful in my career as i progress after completing my apprenticeship. Although, i have learnt general content about businesses which has widened my perspective and understanding of Unilever and how they operate.
We are always updated with events that are happening through internal communications. There are always events or activities happening at the office which we can get involved in. Additionally, my training provider (Multiverse) has an events hub where we can access all the latest activities that are happening and register if we're interested (e.g restaurant meals, social drinks, games nights etc).

I believe Unilever is a place with an outstanding work culture. While they're is a hierarchy, you are not looked down upon but as an equal/friend. They value equality and diversity. Everyone is friendly and kind and only wish good upon you, they are all there to support you to ensure you get the most out of working there- professionally and personally. All the employees are extrememly talented and have so much to offer, it's a great place to learn from and build your career.
Be yourself. Everyone always says this but Unilever values personality and enthusiasm. Show that you really want to be there and prove to them that you want to learn and grow and take away as much as you can from the experience. They don't expect you to come with knowledge and a great education background- all they want to see is your passion to learn.
