I am required to perform all management tasks and duties in the absence of the store manager. Daily admin tasks are an essential part of my role as supervisor and this ranges from stock management to cashing up for the store. I am also responsible for the safety and well being of my team while our manager is out of the store.
During my time as supervisor, I have been able to to develop my skills in the use of computers as this was something new to me before starting this role. I have also been able to demonstrate and grow my people skills while leading my team and dealing with the public at the sales counter, especially at times of conflict with angry customers.
I am always happy and at my best while in a learning environment, the program to which I am enrolled has allowed me to not only develop existing skills but to learn new ones and to grow with confidence in my current job role while preparing me for future advancement within the company.
The program that I am enrolled in is very well structured for me, I feel that the content is relevant at the right time and grows in size of assignment, as well as difficulty, with each module completed. This is perfect for me as it it allows my knowledge to grow at a steady rate rather than all at once.
I receive as much support as I require from my employer to complete the work that I have been assigned, I prefer to try and work unassisted but if ever I need something or information then I have always been given what I need. This help goes all the way to director level if that is the kind of information that I need and have done so during my programe.
I receive as much support as I require while working towards my qualification. My course tutor is always available via email and phone or if I require further help then I can always schedule a one to one virtual meeting with them to discuss aspects of my learning or course. This reassures me that should I need help, I know that it is always available.
My qualification helps me to perform better within my role due to the content that has been covered. With each passing module completed I become more aware of the company procedures, targets and safety measures that we must all follow. The program that I am on has not only shown what these objectives are but also where I can find them or who I need to ask to get them. This makes me a better leader in my role.
Each branch of this company is different and this branch unfortunately opened shortly before the global pandemic hit home, as such there was no real time to set up any extra-curricular activities as we moved into lock down. Now that is all behind us we, as a store team, are looking to set up some kind of social activity that suits all of us.
Yes
I have been given the opportunity within this company to showcase my talents and learn new skills, all staff are treated with respect and encouraged to learn and develop within the company. I have enjoyed my time working here and made some good friends all while helping to serve our local trades people and comunity.
The best advice that I can give to anyone looking to apply to Toolstation is to be yourself, experience comes with time so we are not looking for super hero's, be personable at your interview and try and lead the conversation, ask questions and most importantly enjoy it, the more confident you are the more likely you are to be successful .
