I am a software developer so I am programming on a daily basis. I have regular team meetings to provide progress updates, etc since my team works in an agile manner.
My programming skills have significantly developed since starting this apprenticeship. Prior to my role I also had no experience with AWS however now I know much more about the services.
I thoroughly enjoy my program. I like working with my team and there's lots of opportunities within my role in addition to those offered to me as an apprentice.
My program is very well structured - I have been allocated one day a week to dedicate to the study part of the apprenticeship. I have regular meetings with my skills coach to ensure that my apprenticeship is going well.
My employer is very supportive of my program. Within my team specifically, my manager ensures that I am assigned tasks which will help me to achieve my portfolio criteria. I'm encouraged to take part in all opportunities presented to me.
As mentioned previously, I have regular meetings with my skills coach to ensure my program is going well and that my employer are supporting me in achieving my qualifications. I feel that I'm adequately supported.
My qualification is important for my role however the specific content is not entirely relevant as I use a different programming language in my role to the one I learn as part of my program.
There are lots of social opportunities for apprentices as well as socials with my team. I've also attended several networking and professional development sessions held by my employer.
Yes
I really enjoy my apprenticeship and role at BP. I feel like there is lots of opportunity for learning and development which is vital for me at the start of my career.
When applying to BP, it is important to understand their values and aims as a company. You should be able to recognise why these aims are important and how their values align with your own.
