Help within the commercial team both project and non-project based. Looking at excel spreadsheets about costs and labour as well as helping write instructions for the job, reporting back to my line manager.
My IT skills have grown massively since starting with Laing O'Rourke, after completing different training on excel, COINS and Salesforce, I feel more confident working independently and feel like I am able to complete tasks more efficiently.
I have really enjoyed the first 4 months, settling in well. Everyone is really helpful and welcoming so any questions I have, I can just ask.
We have a good structure, attending University on a Monday and then working Tuesdsy-Friday however we are flexible to work at home through the week if that suits more. Oraganisation from the University is good, having regular meetings with work.
The support from my line manager has been really good since I started. I feel very much at ease asking for help and know I could speak up if something was wrong.
University is less helpful than my employer as they don't know us very well due to only attending University one day a week however the Lecturers within University can be on hand to help if there are any questions.
We can make clear links between University work and daily tasks.
I have already attended Networking events, for on site teams which are good as you get to know everyone.
