I work in the restaurant, bar and reception desk. My role is to serve customers drinks in the bar or to serve them their meals in the restaurant. Sometimes I also work on the check-in desk ensuring that the guests are checked into the correct rooms and I have to make sure that their first experience with us is a pleasant one.
I have learnt how to be a better role model to other members of staff such as new starters as I am often tasked with training them and teaching them how to do the job properly. It has also improved my confidence in my comprehension skills as I was able to answer the questions in a way that suits me best.
I really enjoy my programme because it has taught me lots of different things that help me with my day to day job and it has helped me improve the way I work. I also really enjoy the apprenticeship due to my coach because he supports me and guides me through the course.
The apprenticeship is well organised, you can complete the tasks month by month but you can also complete tasks from different months. It is also good that you can save your tasks so that you can go back to them at another time so you don’t have to complete it in just one sitting.
I have lots of help and support from my managers so that I can complete my programme to the highest standard possible in order to get the best grade that I can. They have allocated time for me to learn new skills for my Off the job training and to improve the way I do my job day to day
My training provider has been very supportive to me. They are always there to answer any and all questions that I have and my coach is always available for a conversation about motivation and is always there to guide me through each and every one of the topics on the programme.
The qualification from this apprenticeship will be a great way to move up within the company and be in a better higher paid position compared to my current role as a ground floor team member. This qualification will be helpful for my future as it is always beneficial to have extra qualifications when applying for jobs especially one that is a supervisory level.
