  • I work as a customer service Advisor. My day to day job involves helping customers choose the right product for their homes or to improve their homes. Approaching customers professionally and with a genuine attitude to help. Also helping customers at the paint desk by mixing paint for them, filling stock, doing the returns.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learnt a lot of new skills and also developed some existing skills. By being more confident and being more clear while speaking to customers. I am more knowledgeable about products that I can inform customers about. I have learnt to be more proactive and also more supportive to my colleagues.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme as it helps me being confident in my job role. I can put into practice whatever I learn in the programme through on job trainings. It gives me more knowledge and the confidence I need to do my job. I can also share this knowledge with my colleagues.

  • It is well organised as I have time for everything. It is well balanced. I can do my learning as well as balance my time at home with family and also does not clash with my working hours. I have all the resources and the support that I need for my learning.

  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. They provide me with all the information and resources that I need and whenever I need by taking the time to show me the things I need to know for my training and to progress further in my role. They always encourage me to progress.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider. They help me with all the information I need to complete my programme. I am able to manage or adjust trainings whenever any personal or work arises. I am able to get all the resources I need to complete my programme.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel quite confident that the training I receive makes me perform well in my role. I have learnt and applied all that I Iearnt through the programme in my everyday role, be it personal or professional. It has helped me to grow and progress in my role at work and also to have a good relation with my manager, team leader and colleagues.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there are events organised at work, we do have social gatherings at times within our team, we are rewarded by our managers for achieving targets and are treated to social evenings with the team to bowling etc. We also have dinners together or even gather for leaving party for colleagues.

  • Yes

  • Yes, I would always recommend B&q to anyone as it is a very good place to work. The management and team are very supportive and provide you with all the help and information you need not only when you are new to the company but also to help you progress further in your career.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to B&Q?
  • I would advice others to be very supportive and cooperative with the team and management. Try to be more flexible with their working patterns. To be non judgemental while working to customers and colleagues. Support your team whenever needed and being proactive when working. Encourage others to bring out the best in them.
