As a level 3 TA my role includes preparing resources for lessons, ensuring children have all they need for their school day, assisting children learning, teaching small groups of children phonics, giving 1-1 care to SEN children within the classroom, safeguarding children, providing first aid to children, facilitating playground activities at lunch time.
I have learnt many new skill for example how to manage classroom behaviour from a whole class to small groups and 1 on 1 with a child. I have learnt how to teach lesson objectives appropriately to different year groups, I have learnt about the school curriculum in more depth and many ways to support a teacher during lesson times.
I have learnt so much during this apprenticeship and I enjoy every aspect, my tutor has lots of knowledge and provides great lessons and help with assignments, the school I am placed in offers non stop support and opportunities for me to develope my skills in a range of areas.
My tutor Sarah split our assignments up really well giving us plenty of time to complete them, the amount of time on the placement is great for developing skills and experience. The lessons give the right amount of information without overloading us and allowing us to relate our learning with our experience.
I have received none stop support, my class teacher has given me many opportunities to see what happens within the school and how they support SEN children. She answers all of my questions fully and allows me to use my strengths within the classroom to enhance children's learning daily
My tutor is only an email or phonecall away and responds very quickly when we need assistance. She is informative and knowledgeable and provides us with enough information during our lessons so that I don't often have any moments where I need more assistance. She explains everything very clearly and honestly.
I started off with 0 experience and through learning on the job I already have that confidence I would need to do the role I am working towards. The lessons help us see the role from a different perspective and allows us to see the importance of what we are doing on a daily basis.
I take part in training that is out of school hours now and then, these have been insightful and worth my time. They also allow me to feel more connected with my team and really appreciate everyone's skills as we get to talk about what we do within school.
Yes
They have really given me the chance to gain a qualification that allows me to have my dream job, they are supportive and diverse and have a great team. The induction week was really informative and helpful when taking my first few steps into this apprentaship and allowed me to appreciate and celebrate the other apprentices.
Just do it. They offer so many different apprenticeships that give you so many opportunities to learn new skills, make friends and grow as a person. Applying has been one of the best things I ever did and I cannot believe the amount of support I have received through this whole process, I wish I had done it sooner.
