I am currently in the Construction Litigation team on secondment in the Middle East. I was the first apprentice at BPP University to move internationally and I work directly with a client, reviewing documents and providing support in the day to day running of their business matters.
Yes, I have learnt how to effectively communicate both in writing and orally to people of all different ages and positions for example the fee earners within the firm but also external third parties such as council, the courts and the client.
I love it, it's given me freedom to move away from home, meet new people and it's given me more financial freedom to use my annual leave days to travel too. I've made really good friends at my firm too and we always have social events.
BPP are a good provider, the lectures are experienced and responsive to questions over email.
I have a manager and a mentor who is also an apprentice in the year above me. I also have peers I can speak to so I have lots of people to reach out to and discuss things with as and when I need.
We get a portfolio coach who is really helpful to discuss competencies with and set targets.
I am able to put into practice what I learn in the classroom in theory. For example, I studied land law while i was in my Real Estate seat which was really helpful as the statutory land law rules applied to my day to day workings.
Yes lots! We have initiatives such as pro bono or the charity initiative so there's lots going on outside of fee-earning work too
