  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently working in the requisitions team, whose main role is to approve shopping carts. This mean that when an engineer wants to buy a new part for a car, they raise a shopping cart. The cart then needs to go through a number of approval systems, one being finance approval.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my apprenticeship because, I get to apply what I am learning at university to real life situations. I also get to experience what it is like to work in a professional environment which is a great opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. I also enjoy challenging myself and pushing myself outside my comfort zone - my apprenticeship has given me the chance to do this.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme has been structured in a clear and organised way. Meaning I know exactly how quickly I need to progress through my studies in order to be successful and progress through my apprenticeship. I have also been told from the beginning of the apprenticeship what the end point assessment looks like so, I am aware what is expected of me.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have weekly catch-up meetings from my team leader so, I can raise any problems that I may have regarding work or my studies. We also have a cohort lead who we can contact if we need any support or have any issues. There is also an early careers team who we can raise queries with and they will find the right person to help support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • For each module, we have a tutor who we can go to if we have any problems with the course content. There is also a performance support team who regularly checks in to make sure we are progressing through the course at a good pace. On the BPP hub, there is also a chat forum that you can go to with any questions and a tutor will respond within 2 days.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The knowledge that I learn through my qualification is vital for progressing in my role. Sometimes, when I first start a new task in the workplace, I won't full understand why we are doing it until I learn about it in university. It also means that when colleagues outside the finance department have questions, I am better equipped to answer them.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are loads of events - both social and work related to get involved in. The early careers team have put together weekly sports events, including football and dance. There are also events such as the winter ball and trips to different places. The finance department also host a variety of networking events which allow me to expand my network.
