I work within Design, but specifically in the Model shop. I work on prototype models using a variety of materials. We do this to create 3D drawings and designs a reality.
Many new skills, from communication to budgeting outside of the workshop but also new craftmanship skills within the workshop.
The program is great, it is best suited to the way I learn new information, through hands on experiences to class room work as well. Thoroughly enjoy coming to work.
Well organised through both college and work, the two communicate with each other through WBLM (Work Based Learning Mangers) to ensure that everything is being done to ensure a smooth transition in and out of work/ college.
As much as we require, we just have to ask.
Teachers and staff were very helpful and knowledgeable when in college, any questions were answered quickly and any issues with work or deadlines they did their best to help.
The training I receive through work and college have set me up in the best way to start my role. I have a great general engineering overview from college and through work I learn more job specific skills.
There are so many activities to join in on, lots of them are run purely by apprentices, lots of fun to be had.
