The purpose of my role is to provide a good customer service to our customers. I help with any queries they might have. I'll also help with any service requests that they might have where I can, or will signpost them to the appropriate team within the bank. An example of something I might help a customer with is account opening.
Yes. I think that I have learnt a lot of new skills, including how to professionally pick up the phone when talking to anyone internal or external. I have also learnt how to use internal systems such as back office. I have also developed existing skills, such as team working which has made me feel more comfortable settling into my role within the team.
I really enjoy my programme as it means that I can work along side learning. It gives me the ability to earn a full time - and very good wage while I am still learning about the industry that I am going into. I also like that there are many other people I am in contact with going through the same programme, and working for the same company as me.
Very well organized and structured. The training provider books in fortnightly webinars to go through each chapter of a workbook we are following. This gives enough time to read it before hand, ask any questions in the webinar and do some knowledge check questions after. NatWest also allow me plenty of time to study and balance both my work and learning.
I receive a lot of support. My line manager checks in with me regularly to make sure that I am happy and comfortable with my working environment. Other members of my team also check in with me, and are very willing to sit down and talk me through anything that I am unsure of and they are always encouraging me to put myself out there and to ask lots of questions.
I would say I receive an okay level of support from my training provider, however it could be better. I had a welcome call check in with my mentor from the training provider and haven't spoken to them since (it's been about 3 weeks). However, other apprentices have said that their mentor checks in with them after every training session/ at least once a week. The online HUB that they training provider has set up for us is very useful though, and i think it will definitely help me to achieve my qualifications.
I think that the actual apprentice course helps me to fill in a lot of background knowledge about the industry, however in terms of day-to-day jobs within my role I don't think it has been incredibly useful. I think i will perform better in my role having the background knowledge though as it means I can make more informed decisions about what I need to do.
Yes. I feel as though there is a lot for me to get involved in. My team run weekly meetings where we have a fun sessions/ activity, which really helps with team moral and motivation. I have also signed up to some volunteering opportunities within the bank, which will allow me to network with various different colleagues from all over the country.
Yes
I would recommend NatWest to a friend as I feel like all of the employees are really genuine and inclusive. Everyone is very supportive and only want the best for you. They aren't afraid to tackle the real issues that employees have either, such as pay. The managers are very willing to listen.
I would advise to not be afraid to ask questions, or to ask for help as someone will always be there to try and help guide you in the right direction. Also not to be afraid to say if you're overwhelmed as everyone is very understanding of how intense it can be joining the bank.
