The first activity of my day is joining a daily morning meeting, in which we discuss our actions and plans for the day. Occasionally, I am given the opportunity to lead these meetings. I then complete the tasks laid out for me for that day. Before the days end we have another meeting to further discuss the day.
My confidence has definitely grown since starting. As well as my confidence growing, my team working skills have also grown as we are given many opportunities to develop these. My analytical skills have grown greatly. PwC gives you a few weeks of online training at the beginning of your employment which helps develop skills when it comes to things even as simple as writing a professional email.
I really enjoy my programme- flying start business management. Having a training/university day helps get to know everyone in your programme so there is a good social side to the programme too. There is a lot of support in the programme and in university. Its helped me learn a lot and go to uni whilst also getting a salary.
I would say that it is structured well. We work 4 days a week and 1 day at university during term time. When it is not term time we work 5 days a week. This uni day contains two lectures- a three hour one in the morning and a three hour one after lunch.
There is a lot of support that we receive. We have a career coach who helps us with any questions we might have, as well as contact with the apprentices from previous years. There could be more support as it is a fairly big jump from secondary school, however the support we receive is sufficient.
The university is good at supporting us. They have ensured that we felt welcomed and had all the information we needed when starting uni. The first day we had a tour and refreshments to get us introduced and familiar. As well, there is good communication between the university and PwC.
Some modules are more relevant to my role at work than others. However, all of them should be helpful in a general business sense, for example finance. One of the modules involves you looking at yourself and how you can improve and also others within a team. This was relevant as it shows different roles within a team.
There are many different extracurricular activities you can get involved in, for example there is a new netball team being set up. There are often yoga and other fitness opportunities going on within the office. There are also many different chances to get involved in different charities within the office.
Yes
I think that the opportunity they have provided me with is great and definitely one that i would take again. The business feels welcoming and there are many opportunities within it. The people at PwC are all super friendly and there is always something new going on in the offices.
Look at the values that PwC have and how they are similar to your personal values. If they are similar this is great, and I would definitely talk about this with examples when completing the application process. Be yourself and work hard. It also helps to be friendly and show that you enjoy working with others.
