My role as an analyst requires me to complete risk and KYC checks on various clients on behalf of engagement teams. I complete approvals and set up calls with teams to review the risk. After these have been submitted for approval I chase up to ensure everything is back before it expires.
I have really developed my time management skills as I organise my week once I am assigned cases. I also have improved my ability to work with teams and improved my confidence on calls. Through the university I have gained a lot of skills, many involved with personal development and emotional intelligence.
I do enjoy the programme and I would recommend it to school leavers. The degree I am working towards is extremely beneficial as it teaches a lot of skills applicable to many business related jobs and will certainly help me in my future career paths. I do enjoy my work as well, however, it can be very stressful particularly towards assignment deadlines as we aren't provided with any study leave through work meaning it can be difficult to work every day and make time to complete the assignment as I find myself exhausted after work. Additionally, my current role in work limits my ability and I do not believe that the role applies to the degree/university course. I don't think there are opportunities to apply my knowledge within PwC or gain experience to support my degree.
The university aspect is highly organised. We are provided with a clear outline of the course and have a clear timetable for each semester/module so we can clearly organise our time and prepare for assignments. The work aspect is quite organised although I wish we were allowed to gain experience in other departments/business areas more related to our course.
PwC are a really great employer. There are many benefits provide including flexible working hours meaning I can organise my work around my degree (assignments) when required. Additionally, they have many support resources in work such as the well-being area and multiple points of contact if there are any issues. However, in terms of our career pathway, many people in my course have reached out regarding getting more experience in other departments or shadowing opportunities which relate to the programme, these haven't been followed up on and more so denied.
Ulster University and the lectures provide a lot of support. They provide a well-structured and enjoyable programme and ensure we have the knowledge and support to help us grow as individuals to achieve our career goals. I have gained many skills from the university course and highly enjoy the university/degree aspect of the course.
My qualification looks at multiple business areas and has allowed me to develop new skills applicable to my job. Most of the assignments are applicable to the work aspect and our lecturers design these to relate to PwC which I find very valuable as it helps me understand the way the business works. I have greater insight to many business aspects which I had never understood before.
PwC provide many opportunities to get involved with such as People Committee teams. I am currently a member of a social committee within my business tower. This has allowed me to meet new people and organise social events as well as helping to provide opportunities for others to get involved with their teams and build relationships. PwC provide a lot of volunteering opportunities also.

PwC are a great employer. They care about their employees and provide opportunities to get involved with. The programme I am on is highly beneficial to my career path and I have learnt a lot of knowledge as well as experience from this programme. PwC place high emphasis on their employees and want them to strive and provide support and resources for this.
Research the programme and PwC to see if it is the best course that suits your needs and will help you achieve the necessary skills required for your career goals. Attend open nights and PwC recruitment events to be able to speak to people who work their and hear their experience first hand.
