As a Crew Trainer I am training new starters and completing SOCS on each station for them. I also supervise shifts and make sure all dates and tempering are correct. I am also qualified to do change over which involves food temperature from breakfast to lunch and checking food safety.
The new skills I have learnt from the apprenticeship is learning to use grammar in my emails and SOC writing. I have also learned different ways to be a leader and what leadership skills work for me and my team members. The on the job learning is also great too.
I enjoy learning new things and on the job learning as it's forcing me every week to learn something new. I have enjoyed the virtual classes for English as it's personal and puts you to the test but also forces you to learn and pay attention, these are really good.
The programme is very well organised, however at first is can be very overwhelming so you need to be in touch with your coach and simplify the programme to what you are comfortable with and remember to always ask questions if you are unsure of whats expected of you. That's it :)
I have received plenty of support from my employer. It has taken some time to warm up and was a little messy but things are starting to get on track and they have even given me off the floor day each week to concentrate on my apprenticeship and always have a manager around to help.
Plenty of support has been provided by the training provider, they have put me on plenty of virtual classes and give me and my employer enough notice so we can fit it in our schedule. My coach is always checking in on me and reassuring me when I am not sure on something.
I am learning business skills that I would of not learnt without the apprenticeship. I am learning more about McDonalds as a business and what it takes to be a leader. I am also learning English skills and this helps me when I am writing emails or writing up SOCs.
Yes McDonalds Is on the workplace social media platform and on here every week there are new ways the store can get involved and that can I include new promotions, McDonalds Football tournament or charity work events. I think more events could be done within the franchise though as this will make it more personal.
Yes
The security of the Job is excellent, you are guaranteed your hours and the training is excellent. Even before you start your first shift you are training on health and safety. The opportunity's to go into management is very good but this is only if you are flexible with your hours which is something McDonalds could work on.
Be confident and make sure you progress within the business, do all your training and work as a team . Get involved in apprenticeships and more importantly have fun and you will build strong relationships with the people around you and you will become and strong team and it makes your days go a lot smoother.
